my final blog !

I can't believe this is coming to an end. I have really enjoyed myself in this class. I love each and every person in here. They are each amazing in their own way. I have bonded with people I didn't expect to. We're more than a class. It's like we're a family. We all help eachother when needed. But we've made it ! And I don't think we would've done it if it wasn't for our wonderful teacher Mrs, Mcchesney. She's like the mother of our class. She's been there for help when we needed it, and she's pushed us when we started to slack. I had my bestfriend in this class with me, Shaina Pack. We've pushed eachother to get the work done. I hate to see this year end but I'm also excited. I guess their right when they say, all good things must come to an end. It's safe to say that this year has definately been the best year of my life.

I didn't think I was going to like this class to be honest. Of course, I dreaded the horrible senior project. But our class wasn't like any other english class. When they told us, our senior project would be a game, I thought oh yeah that's going to be easy and fun. It was fun, but easy? Far from it. We had our struggles, gosh did we have our struggles. But we all pulled through. It's wonderful how people can come together like my class has. I really am glad I got the experience to get to know everyone in here. I mainly talked to, Shaina, Nick, Rusty, Randy and Katie. We all had our fun goofin off with one another, and I'm going to miss each and everyone of them. We've made soo many memories that I can, and will never be able to forget. We all stayed stressed out with flash, and the codings but we all tried goofin off and ignoring it.

I really hate to see this end, but I know we will all see eachother again someday. This has really became one of my favorite classes and i'm soo glad I had it with the people that I did. They are all so great. And of course, I can't forget about my teacher. She's a wonderful person and I'm glad she was my english 12 teacher. She's not very strict but when she wants somethin done, you best believe she will push you until you get it done, which I'm thankful for. Sometimes I had my moments when I wanted to slack off, but she pushed me until I did it. Just like this blog. She reminded me several times it had to be done, and it's done.

CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2010, WE MADE IT (:

group chat.

I thought that the group chat was a very good experience for our class. We got to see everyone's point of view on the poems that we read. I didn't really understand the first poem but once Amy and Jessica said their theories it kind of gave me a little bit of help. I'm really glad Chez had us do this because, it definately helped me out with getting a good understanding on the poems. It helps if you don't understand something and someone throws their opinions/theories of them it gives you a good understanding and i'm really glad we had this experience today.

Country Roads (:

West Virginia is where I live and where I probably always will. Its beautiful here. All the mountains, the camp grounds and everything. I call it my home. I love it here, I love going up in the mountains ridin fourwheelers or just going up there in trucks. It's definately one of my favorite places in the world. I love the college basketball team I'm a very big wvu fan and that's what i'll always be. I always watch the games. Everything about the West Virginia mountains is amazing. West Virginia has that "hillbilly" reputation but everyone here just shakes it off becuase we know what it is really like here. This is one of my favorite places in West Virginia. It is so beautiful. Noone really understands how much history West Virginia has, and its amazing when you learn about some of it.

As you may know, West Virginia is famous for our coalmines. We just recently had a big explosion at Massey Coal mines on the Raleigh County/Boone County Line, that has affected all of us and everyone around us. We lost 25 miners and 4 are still missing and several made it out alive and a couple are in the hospital. In the picture is Cory Davis. He is one of the 25 people that we lost. I had known him for a long time. He was such an amazing person to be around. My thoughts and prayers are with the Davis family. Cory was hilarious, and could make anyone laugh and smile. His brother Seth is my age and him and Cory were very close. Seth is having a hard time and my heart is breaking for him and their family. Cory was a very atheletic person. Cory would do anything for his family especially his little brothers Seth and Nathan. His dad was also stuck in the mines but he made it out, unfortunately Cory didn't make it out. Cory was a very loveable guy, and he is going to be missed terribly but I know that he is in a better place now, eventhough its not here with us. I can still see that smile. Which if you knew Cory that is something you know you could never forget. You will always be in my heart Cory. Watch over us all and help your family pull through this. We all love you and miss you so much. "You don't have to dance with the devil anymore Cor, now Jesus will dance with you, rip" This was a very big tragedy that we will carry around with us for a while. Pray for the Davis family, the missing miner's and their families, they all need it right now.
- Cory Thomas Davis, we miss you buddy. May 22nd 1989-April 5th 2010
[I'm gonna miss that smile, I'm gonna miss you my friend Even though it hurts the way it ended up, I'd do it all again So play it sweet in heaven 'cause that's right where you wanna be I'm not cryin' cause I feel so sorry for you, I'm cryin' for me. ]
[I know you're in a better place, yeah But I wish that I could see your face, oh I know you're where you need to be Even though it's not here with us]

P.j

Pj came to our class last week and helped teach us how to get our game to move. He helped us out a lot. At first I got frustrated cos I kept getting confused. Then when I was starting to finally get the hang of it the thing wouldn't work. People in my class had tried helping me and it still didn't work. So I had to get Pj to come back here and help me. It took him a few minutes to figure out what I had done wrong so he fixed what I had made a mistake on and fixed it then the thing that we made move, finally started to work. I'm glad that he came and helped us because now we have a pretty good idea on how to get our games to move. So big thanks to Pj.

Buttons.

I thought that making buttons in flash was going to be really complicating but I actually understood it. The more we work with flash the more I am starting to understand. Me and Shaina are starting to understand a lot about flash. We have most of our game drew. Our buttons are up and working.

Anglo-Saxons and Video Games comparison.

Most video games that we play today have to do with these kind of characters. I took Latin I& Latin II last year and we talked a lot about Greek mythology and the Romans. In most of these there is always a monster of some sort having to defeat an arched enemy or getting defeated. These are the kinds of games most people like to play in today's society. Like left for dead 2 has to do with killing or defeating enemies. I also remember talking about Anglo-Saxons in my history classes in the past.

Audience ! ! !

-When the first teller of Beowulf prepared to share the tale, what assumptions do you think he (or she) made about the purpose of the story? I think that the story teller probably didn't really believe in Beowulf. He or she probably thought that the monster would end up winning the battle with Beowulf. When I read this I was back and forth, part of me thought Grendel would win but also there was a part of me that thought Beowulf would win.

-- How do you think the storyteller's beliefs about the intended audience--men gathered in mead halls--affect the content of the story? I thought the story would be more detailed. I thought that it would be a lot more descriptive on how they were killed.

- How do you think YOUR beliefs about your video games' intended audience (you will need to determine who your audience is) will affect the development and final version of your game? Think of age appropriateness, learning goals, types of characters, etc
.
Our game will have to be appropriate for all ages. It has to be educational I know that me and my partner have to come up with a game that is understandable, and age appropriate.
